Facilities & Regulations
The
False Bay Yacht Club is situated adjacent to the club
floating jetty, marinas and the Simon's Town jetty and
is in close proximity to the shopping centre of Simon's
Town.
Modern ablution facilities with hot showers are provided
in the clubhouse. The "Crows Nest" pub is open every
day and is the hub of club activity Light, delicious
meals are served downstairs in the Galley throughout
the week and finger bites are served, on request, to
members socialising upstairs.
There
is a lovely barbeque area outside, for those who like
to cook outdoors. Visiting yachts enjoy the first 3
days free on a marina berth, where available, within
which time they must arrange rental with a berth owner
if they wish to stay longer. Current charges may be
obtained from the club staff. Water and electricity
are available free of charge in the yard, clubhouse
and on the marina berths.
There
is an emergency buoy to the north-east of the breakwater.
The club cradle and slipway facility may be used by
members and visitors, subject to availability, at club
rates. If a tow is requested, the club will assist.
The
Club ferry service is available 7 days a week, during
office hours, weather permitting.
General
Information
The
Yacht Club is an integral part of the commercial section
of Simon's Town and therefore the banks, shops, restaurants
and Post Office are within a 100 metre radius. The suburban
railway station to Cape Town is about one kilometre
away.
